Leading Devon law firm Stones Solicitors LLP and Country Sports South West are to form a partnership designed to help tourism businesses in the countryside gain access to the latest legal advice and information.

Country Sports South West is a £1.6 million tourism project delivered by the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC). Its remit is to help businesses reach country sports visitors, raise quality and assist with development in order to make the South West a premier sports destination.

The organisation helps and supports a range of businesses across the spectrum of country sports - from country hotels to equine pursuits, fishing and shooting. The partnership with Stones will bring useful legal expertise in a variety of areas important to such businesses, including employment, licensing, sporting licences, fishing rights, land issues, health and safety, commercialisation, property and corporate transactions.

It is vital that businesses in this sector have access to good legal support - it is estimated that the combined worth of shooting, fishing and equestrian business to the South West is £1.26 billion, an impressive contribution to the local economy and one which should be based on sound legal footings.

Annette Cole, Senior Manager of Country Sports South West, said:

"Our new partnership with Stones will be a great benefit to the regional country sports sector and those businesses who are engaged with our project. Country sport businesses often require specialist legal advice in terms of the shooting/fishing and horse riding market and we are delighted that Stones will be able to assist and advise them."

Adrian Richards, Chief Operating Officer at Stones, added:

"This partnership is the perfect fit for us because we are already one of the leading providers of legal services to rural and agricultural businesses in the region. We are looking forward to working closely with Country Sports South West and to giving its user businesses access to our expertise."
