New Yard Restaurant at Trelowarren is renowned for championing the importance of using local produce and for supporting local producers to help ensure only the freshest produce reaches our award winning chef. We try to have the kind of restaurant that we like to eat in ourselves; informal service, good food and good wine.
We have fish and shellfish caught by local dayboats; game from the estate; fruit, vegetables and herbs from local farmers; meat and poultry from local supplier.
Look out for the game taster menus!
As head chef, I pride myself on sourcing only the finest local, seasonal ingredients and produce, such as vegetables from Cusgarne, cheeses from Menallack Farm, oysters, mussels, and scallops hand-dived from the Helford (thus supporting our traditional agricultural economy, minimizing air miles and ensuring absolute freshness).
This not only protects their environment but guarantees the quality we strive to deliver. Of course, we also utilise the Estate for game, eggs and herbs, and our bread and chutneys are freshly made in the restaurant's kitchen. The supply of vegetables, herbs and fruit from our own doorstep, will be increasing as head gardener Peter Oates realizes plans for a kitchen and botanic garden, which will produce fruit and vegetables for the shop and the restaurant.
