Exmoor Shoot
EX36

The topography alters dramatically over the 5,000 acres of Exmoor National Park land that encompasses the Molland shooting estate. The shoot is made up of a series of valleys, laid out like fingers on a hand, which contain moorland, woodland and waterways. As a result the backdrop for the various drives is extraordinary. Each valley is steep, providing the perfect opportunity for the most spectacular driven pheasant and partridge shooting in the Country.

Molland is a mixed shoot and the variety of the valleys and the landscapes, makes the shooting constantly varied, but always challenging. Drives like The Folly and Dipper offer the most exhilarating partridges. While the pheasants from drives like Gourt and Inkwell will challenge even the most experienced guns on a day.

We meet at Bremley Farmhouse and coffee is served in front of the roaring open fire as pegs are drawn. The team of experienced loaders await and after introduction the party are off to the first of the day's four or five drives.

The Molland shooting estate is owned by Mrs. Clare Throckmorton and it has been in her family for over 200 years. It has a reputation for high birds in glorious countryside and unsurprisingly has a passionate following. Historically it provided a prime location for stag hunting and the red deer are still in abundance.
